Potsdam Food Co-op Welcomed All to Free Sampling of The Cheese Brothers’ Cold-Smoked Cheeses
The Potsdam Food Co-op hosted a free Cheese of the Month sampling event on Friday, January 9, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Community members were invited to visit the Co-op, located at 24 Elm Street in Potsdam Village, to sample The Cheese Brothers’ cold-smoked cheeses. Nine of The Cheese Brothers’ varieties are available at the Potsdam Food Co-op, and a selection will be offered for tasting. Cheese samplings are held on the second Friday of each month, with the featured brand on sale to all shoppers throughout the month.
The Cheese Brothers has roots in old-world methods, but it specializes in creating tasty new varieties. They add a smoky flavor by slowly cold-smoking each cheese using hardwoods. Simple, natural ingredients are key, and most varieties are gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly. The Cheese Brothers sources rBST-free milk from small Wisconsin farms that provide good-quality diet and housing for their herds. The company shares tips for using its products through its own YouTube channel and other social media.
At the Co-op, cheese lovers will find three of The Cheese Brothers’ popular “Baked Bliss” cheeses, made to be served hot with your favorite condiment, and a unique Italian Fratello, which is great for pizza, lasagna, and charcuterie, at the Co-op. It also stocks three of their spreads and two Goudas flavored with mango and sriracha. All are vegetarian, but the spreads are not gluten-free.
The Potsdam Food Co-op is a community-owned grocery store open to all, with discounts and perks for members. No ownership is required to shop!
